Canaland Innovation Board Masthead

What are we looking for?

We are looking to identify value-adding technologies that can enrich pharmaceutical innovation, from the development of API’s and Finished Dose, through to commercial scale manufacture.

Although we have a wide-ranging interest in pharmaceutical innovation, we have identified a few areas where we are particularly interested. However, if your idea does not fit within one of these categories, contact us anyway. We are open to lots of different ideas!

  1. Novel sustainable technologies. For example, solvent free reactions or reactions based in water. Reactions that improve the yield or atom efficiency of known technology, creates less waste, or uses less hazardous reagents. Technologies that are specific to, or have been proven to improve the synthetic methodologies for specific API’s will be looked upon more favourably.
  1. New chemical technologies. What new broad classification of chemical transformation have you recently patented or has the potential to be patented? This could be, for example, new chemistry to form amides, esters or other functional groups, new chiral technologies or new carbon-carbon bond forming reactions (C-H activation).
  1. New chemical engineering solutions. For example, this could be engineering technologies that aid particle size control, distillations, crystallisations, filtrations, or high-pressure reactions for example.
  1. New formulation engineering solutions. For example, this could be new equipment that reduces operator exposure, weighs products more accurately or supports a new formulation technology for example.
  1. Novel formulation or device technology. For example, this could be technologies that improve patient adherence, extend a product lifecycle or require less API to have the same therapeutic effect.
  2. Novel formulations, technology platforms, processes that better address patient and/or consumer needs for example taste masking, improved stability, improved safety and efficacy.
